Expert surgical removal of moles, cysts, lipomas, skin tags and other lesions

More about minor surgery

We can help with a number of skin lesions including:

Mole

Moles

Moles are small coloured spots on the skin made up of cells that produce the colour (pigment) in your skin. Most moles are completely harmless.

Cyst

Cysts

Cysts are non- cancerous, closed pockets of tissue that can be filled with fluid, pus, or other material. They are smooth to the touch, vary in size, and are generally round in shape.

Skintag

Skin Tags

Skin tags (acrochordons) are small flesh-coloured or brown growths that hang off the skin and look a bit like warts. They're very common and harmless.

Cherry Angiomas

Lesions

Other common lesions that can be treated include smaller lipomas (less than 4cm), cherry angiomas, keratosis and warts.

Where a skin lesion (sometimes known as ‘lumps and bumps’) is not deemed to be a health risk, your doctor may not be able to remove it on the NHS. If you would still like the lesion to be removed, your only option may be to go private.

Surgery to remove a skin lesion is a specialist procedure that typically takes up to 30 minutes comprising a one-stop appointment including a consultation and lesion removal.

Further information is below and also in our Minor Skin-Surgery Service and Post Operative Wound Care leaflets.

The procedures performed by Clinical Options’ partners are exclusively for the surgical removal of benign lesions only and not for the treatment of any medical condition (including the removal of cancerous or potentially cancerous lesions), for which separate specialist medical advice/treatment must be sought. Prior to booking an appointment with us, you should confirm with your registered GP or a dermatologist whether there is, or may be, a medical need for removal of your lesion(s), separate specialist treatment for which should be available for free through the NHS.
